Toni Cortés – Profile and presentation -
My name is Toni Cortés Recatalá. I live in Benicarló (Castellón) and I am the current owner of Candil Bar & Drinks.
I began to study in the CIPFP Costa de Azahar (hospitality school) in Castellón. After working in different types of establishments for 13 years, I put my dream of having my own place into motion, which has now been in operation for 6 years.
Three years ago, I decided to learn about the mixology world professionally, as I needed to have enough knowledge to be able to offer better service to my customers. From then on, I began to study the world of gin, which awakened my desire to learn more and become a professional in the world of distillates.
Through courses, training, masters, and self-teaching, I try to continuously evolve. The mix of learning, designing cocktails, seeing the reactions of the people when they try them, creating new experiences and other reasons are the ingredients that help me keep my passion for this world alive and thus, one day, become a bartender.
Currently I’m part of the ABCV (Association of Bartenders of the Valencian Community) as a vice president of the board of directors.
For me, mixology is an opportunity for self-expression through distillates, liquors, syrups, homemade creations, mixers, etc., with the goal of leaving an impression and creating an opinion in our customers. I am also a member of The 7 Jiggers, a group of friends connected with the world of mixology under the #castellonseagita. We are a very tight group, bringing together different perspectives and knowledge that leads to constant growth and evolution.
For all of this to happen, working with high-quality raw materials is essential and, for that reason, having a distillery like Teichenné, S.A. is very comforting due to the amount of products they have but, above all, for their quality, at this broadens the horizons for the creation of new products.
“Our premise is using high-quality distillates and liquors, knowing that the base of the cocktails that we design is up to the level required to capture our essence in them.”
In short… there’s a lot left to learn, but also to enjoy!
¡Welcome to #TeichennéFamily Toni Cortés!
